Why Are Pandas Carnivores When They Only Eat Bamboo?

Pandas are classified as carnivores. Carnivores are an animal who only eat meat. However, 99% of a panda's diet is bamboo, a plant. The other 1% is berries and small fruits. How is this possible?


Scientists have an explanation for the phenomenon. Pandas originally ate meat. Millions of years ago, pandas lost the ability to taste meat, so they switched over to the only other available food source. Bamboo.
